Sheriff James E. Clemmons, Jr.

Sheriff Clemmons was hired at the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office in 1989. He served as a patrol deputy until 1991. In 1991 he was promoted to Sergeant and assigned to the detective division. In 1997 he was promoted to Lieutenant and promoted to Captain in 1998. On July 7th, 2002 he was promoted to Major. On November 2nd, 2010 the citizens of Richmond County voted to elect him as Sheriff.
During his law enforcement career Sheriff Clemmons has served many roles and been part of the Special Response team. During his law enforcement career he has received many awards and certificates. These include:
